Families are the Heartbeat of the World

Funny and goofy, smart and wise, families are simply filled with
wonderful, sweet, tender life. FamilyStories is a multimedia resource that celebrates the rich life of family. We keep our fingers on the pulse of modern families as we weave current child development information with shared wisdom, activities, ideas and family stories. All about topics that matter most to families, stories are contributed by adults, children, educators and health professionals. Our books, workshops and other media explore eight major areas of family life:
heart

  • Everyday Moments
  • Special Memories
  • Seasonal Celebrations
  • Twists & Turns
  • School & Learning
  • Let's Discuss That
  • Special Interests & Needs
  • Story Keeping

We want to know and we want to share how families spend time together, how they cope in challenging times and the ways they celebrate the simple and the amazing moments of their lives. Stories and information come from people everywhere, making FamilyStories projects personal, powerful and true. On our end, we pair stories with up-to-date expert information and activities to create books, workshops, and other programs that help families come together in meaningful ways. To share your own family's story, simply click on the Tell Us Your Story page.

This website is a window into the growing world of FamilyStories.  Take a moment to check out the Instant Fun page.  It is a library of activities, charts, and easy projects for families to print and use.  We add to it on a regular basis, so check back often for new ideas.

We are also proud to have wonderful partners with whom to build FamilyStories, and the list is expanding as we create special partnerships with many of the companies and organizations that meet the diverse needs of your family.

The FamilyStories book and activity series Sterling Publishing are available in all Barnes & Noble stores and other retailers nationwide. Our radio short-format radio features can be heard on XM satellite networks.  A FamilyStories/National Geographic title for families will be available in 2009: The 10 Best of Everything for Family Travel.  FamilyStories/Born Learning Workshops will expand nationally beginning in 2008.  In the meantime, we continue to grow by leaps and bounds, and hope you’ll visit often to share a story, check out “What’s New” and take advantage of Instant Fun activities.

Together with you and many other families and friends, FamilyStories is developing a virtual community where families can come together to discuss, learn, share, enjoy and grow with one another, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
